The Good Word Market Hall will be a new food and entertainment space designed to support emerging entrepreneurs while creating a lively gathering place in the Historic Westside. Located adjacent to shareDOWNTOWN Westside, The Good Word will complement nearby housing and retail by activating the neighborhood with culture, cuisine and community.
The space will feature incubation kitchens for up to three food-based business concepts, giving local entrepreneurs an opportunity to test ideas, build customer bases and grow their brands in a supportive environment. In addition to the rotating food concepts, The Good Word will include a full bar and live music programming, creating a dynamic destination for residents and visitors alike.
Operated by the city of Las Vegas, The Good Word reflects a commitment to economic opportunity, creative expression and community-centered development. When it opens, the space will serve as both a launchpad for local talent and a welcoming place to gather — adding energy and opportunity to the Historic Westside.

Construction is progressing on shareDOWNTOWN Westside, a new mixed-use development bringing new housing and business space to the neighborhood. The project officially broke ground March 21, 2024, marking the beginning of the first large-scale, ground-up construction project in the Westside in nearly 70 years. It is scheduled to be complete in 2026.
Located on the northeast corner of D and Jefferson streets, shareDOWNTOWN Westside will be a five-story building with 104 residential units tailored to support workforce housing and community living. The development is being led by Cherry Development, a local firm behind the shareDOWNTOWN apartment brand in downtown Las Vegas. The city of Las Vegas has been a partner in the project, including city plans to lease portions of the retail space for small business opportunities.
ShareDOWNTOWN Westside incluirá:
-104 apartment homes designed to be attainable for people working in and around the area, with modern interiors and community-oriented amenities;
-Approximately 13,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space;
-Adjacent food hall called "The Good Word" intended to bolster food-and-beverage businesses and create opportunities for emerging local restaurateurs; and
-Design elements that reflect and honor Westside history, including the incorporation of items salvaged from the former New Jerusalem Church that once occupied part of the site.
Beyond housing and retail, shareDOWNTOWN Westside will feature shared community spaces such as open-air courtyards and flexible areas intended to foster connection among residents and neighbors, continuing the live-work-play lifestyle of the shareDOWNTOWN brand.

Construction is set to begin in 2026 on the long-anticipated Marble Manor Redevelopment, marking a major step forward in the community’s revitalization efforts. The project will replace an aging public housing complex with modern, community-centered homes designed to serve current and future Westside residents. The redevelopment was bolstered by a $50 million Choice Neighborhoods Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The project will be completed in multiple phases and will ultimately deliver 635 new housing units — including a mix of public housing, affordable housing and market-rate housing. The redevelopment will significantly expand high-quality housing options while preserving affordability and neighborhood stability. Demolition on the first phase has already been completed, clearing the way for construction to start in 2026.
This investment represents a commitment to reinvesting in existing communities — not displacing them — and ensuring that revitalization includes housing that remains accessible to longtime residents. In addition to housing, the redevelopment will feature new retail and commercial spaces, community spaces, parks and an early learning center.
Construction will continue in phases, with additional residential buildings and amenities delivered as the project progresses. Full completion is anticipated by 2032, with regular updates shared with residents and the community throughout the process.
Along with the HUD funding for redeveloping the Marble Manor site, $7.5 million of the HUD funds have been set aside for other Historic Westside neighborhood improvements, including:
-The development of The Good Word food hall and small business incubator;
-A single-family homeowner façade improvement program;
-Neighborhood wayfinding signage;
-Public art and murals; and
-An early learning center.
Workforce Development Training Available Through Strong Future Technology Training Center

Se avecinan mejoras en Ethel Pearson Park, situado en 451 W. Washington Ave. A partir de 2026, las mejoras previstas incluyen:

-Una nueva placa conmemorativa en honor a la homónima del parque.
Ethel Pearson fue una líder querida e influyente en West Las Vegas cuyo impacto aún se siente hoy en día. Llegó a Las Vegas en 1944 y pronto se hizo conocer como "Mamá" por su profundo compromiso con la comunidad y su filosofía de ayudar a los vecinos a mejorar su calidad de vida.
Pearson fue una miembro dedicada de la Second Baptist Church, donde organizó con orgullo 15 coros de iglesia en West Las Vegas. También fue tesorera del primer Club Democrático del condado, ayudó a organizar a madres de bienestar social y fue una activa funcionaria del ayuntamiento del vecindario. En reconocimiento a su servicio y liderazgo, la ciudad honró su legado en 1955 nombrando el parque en su honor.
